childhood?
2. Critically discuss how transformations in paid employment post 1970s have affected
the experience of and theorizing about young people.
3. Drawing on examples (from lectures or readings) from the unit critically discuss the

4. Critically assess the argument that despite generational changes gender inequalities
are being rearticulated.
5. Critically discuss how the recognition of children’s agency has informed methods of
research and research ethics?
6. What have been the implications of transformations in family life since the 1970s for
children or young people? How have these shaped contemporary sociological
theorizing about childhood and youth?
7. Critically discuss the representation and experience of Indigenous children in relation
to historic or contemporary policies. What insight does the Sociology of childhood
offer to our understanding of these?
8. Drawing on research about the experience of children and young people living in

sociology of childhood’.
9. Critically discuss whether the digital native debate supports the idea of social
generations.
