Task
Suppose you are a Global Strategy Consultant engaged by an Australian company (select any manufacturing or services company i.e. you may also check ASX index for companies in Australian stock exchange). Assume that Australian company intends to expand its business to another country and hopes to do so by forming an international business with a local firm there.
As its consultant, you are required to write a report to the CEO of your Australian company with your analysis and recommendations on the following areas:
A). Which new country location should the Australian company invest in? and Why?
B). Which local firm in the new country location should the Australian company form a partnership/strategic alliance with? Why? Or any other international business entry strategy?
C). What other business-level strategies you would recommend to the newly formed international business? Why?
You will need to conduct extensive research and provide a comprehensive report to your client justifying your recommendations.
Your assignment should be presented as a business report and the format should be as follows:

4. Introduction (Business problem, objective and scope of the report)
5. Methods you use to collect and analyse data and information
6. Review of the current international business and economic environment
7. Analysis, evaluation, and justification of new target industry

10. Analysis, evaluation and justification of how best the firm should position itself to compete successfully in the new industry

Before you start doing your assignment, read the assessment description carefully and understand the objective of the report. You should focus on the key issues and the format of the report, write down important areas to be covered, gain sound theoretical and empirical understanding about the areas to be covered, relate the industry and the product/service to the key areas, maintain consistency and relevancy throughout your work on the project, provide justifications using concepts, practices, research and/or your
own innovative thoughts, prepare a draft report and read it several times and do necessary modifications and corrections, write precisely and avoid unnecessary reproduction of secondary information, double check the contents and your writing before submitting your report. In particular, you should note the evaluation criteria/guidelines and the allocation of marks for different sections in the Business Report Feedback Form throughout the work on your project.
It is very important to manage your time by commencing the work on your project from the first week itself. You may find something important to your project from every lecture, tutorial and other activities you do on this subject. You need to make a note on those points and start writing your assignment as early as week 1. Target finishing your work at least one week early as the submission time is before the lecture in week 9.

Business Report - Length & Style
The individual Business Report must be written with
maximum 2,500 words excluding the footnotes, figures and references.
· It is advised that the format for assignments is to be double spaced with 2.54 cm margins and font size of 12 pt.
· Please show the word count, along with all other details on the cover sheet.
· Your report will be assessed for relevant research, analytical content and logical flow of your arguments(Please see making criteria)
· You are expected to use research materials, literature/s (theoretical/conceptual), theory/ies, theoretical model/s, and/or conceptual framework/s from academic journals/textbooks to analyse/justify your analyses/arguments. Relevance is the key for using such references, not the number of references you present in your report.
· All work must be original and must not have been submitted for any other subject or course here or elsewhere.
· Copying or plagiarising works of other authors, including your fellow students or cutting and pasting from the internet and other sources is an offence and will attract heavy penalty.
· For literature citation, use the UOW Harvard style of referencing and include reference list.
Due Date for Business Report
No hard copy is required. Please make sure to view similarity report when you submit your assessment and work on if there is a high similarity in your assessment. It is also important to keep in your mind that Turnitin assessment submission system (similarity rate) may take few minutes or hours hours to produce the originality report when you submit it first time, but if you upload your report several times, it may takes 24 hours or longer. In such cases, you need to make sure you upload your final report at least 24 hours before the submission deadline.
Late work will be penalised at the rate of 20 percentage points per ‘working day’ (per 24 hours of the ‘working day’ or part thereof). Assessed work will not be accepted for the award of a mark if it is more than four ‘working days’ late. This penalty for late submission and the four-day rule may be waived upon presentation of a medical certificate of illness for the relevant period, or upon documented evidence of a serious and utterly exceptional crisis
(see student handbook and UOW policies relevant to assessment).

The weighting for this assessment task is 25% of the overall mark.
