Project: Managing diversity at BizOps Enterprises 代写
Part B – Project: Managing diversity at BizOps Enterprises
Purpose | You will demonstrate your skills and knowledge by completing a scenario-based project. |
Task overview and context |
You receive an email from Sayo Yoshida, Managing Director: Human Resources. Subject: Diversity issues in your team Hello, Over the past few weeks there have been numerous issues within your team that need to be managed in compliance with our diversity policy. As the leader of your team, it is important that you address all diversity issues as they arise. You will need to analyse the recent diversity issues and implement changes to the current diversity policy to address these. In doing so, you can re-establish and foster diversity within your team and illustrate the benefits of these diversity changes. I need you to prepare a report that addresses the issues in your team. Make sure that you read the ‘Instructions to the candidate’ section that follows, where I have provided details of what to include in the report. To assist you in completing this task, please refer to the ‘Overview of IT diversity issues’ and access my voicemail, both provided below. Regards, Sayo Yoshida Managing Director: Human Resources Overview of IT diversity issues BizOps Enterprises currently has 150 stores Australia-wide, seven warehouse facilities and a head office. Presently, there are a number of diversity issues in the IT department that need attention: Jim is a new member of the IT team. He has strong religious beliefs and has recently expressed concern about Kelly, one of the other IT members, who is openly gay. Jim is having a hard time accepting that he has to work with Kelly. He has asked to be removed from the project immediately. Both Jim and Kelly have critical skill sets that are needed for the project to succeed. Last week there was an IT team activity day that included lunch. Fred, who was in charge of organising the catering for the small team event, neglected to find out whether team members had any dietary requirements. Unfortunately, Alana, who is vegan, could not eat any of the food that was available and needed to buy lunch from a local cafe and temporarily leave the event. At the same IT team activity day, several physical games were played. These activities did not cater for Danielle, who has rheumatoid arthritis, and Orlando, who has cerebral palsy. Both Danielle and Orlando could not participate and simply watched. You are currently investigating a harassment complaint brought by one of the female employees against a male co-worker. In a formal meeting with the woman, she described an incident where a male co-worker from a European country, made what she felt was an inappropriate comment to her. At lunch one day, he remarked that he ‘found her extremely attractive’ and touched her shoulder. She felt that the remark was completely out of line because he is married and she became extremely upset. She has refused to have any further contact with him and is angry at his continued attempts to talk with her. When you spoke with him, he explained that he meant the remark as a compliment and has been trying to apologise. Voicemail from Sayo Yoshida Hi, it’s Sayo. I hope that you have read my email. I’m just calling to remind you to read the task instructions carefully. I look forward to reading the changes you comes up with. Good luck! |
